The Brownsville Herald

The trial of a Brownsville woman accused of waiting outside in a car while an accomplice strangled an elderly woman has been reset for late March.

Carla Ramos, 27, is charged for participating in the murder of Carmen Jacobson inside her Western Jefferson Street home on Jan. 24, 2006 according to The Brownsville Herald's archives.

Those involved in the case are Alfonso Granados Lucas, 36, who has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder and Jose Luis Gutierrez, 27, whose case is pending.

Ramos appeared before 404th state District Judge Abel Limas to discuss the motion for reset after two different attempts at plea bargain have fallen through.

"Twice you have changed your mind," said Limas in regards to the delays of the case.

The reset is aimed at allowing both the defense and the state enough time to gather expert witnesses in order for he case to be contested in court.
