Suspect in car theft arrested
Brownsville Police arrested a man late Wednesday accused of stealing and torching a car, Brownsville police spokesman J.J. Trevino said.
Police secured an arrest warrant Wednesday charging Carlos Santana Garza, 19, with arson, court documents show.
The affidavit alleges Garza stole a car Jan. 23 that was parked at an apartment complex. The owner of the car had accidentally left the keys in the vehicle, the affidavit states.
Garza then burned the inside of the car and abandoned it on West Fronton Street, according to the warrant.
Trevino said Garza had two accomplices.
