Man gored by bull at Falfurrias rodeo
FALFURRIAS, Texas (AP) - A 52-year-old man was expected to leave the hospital after being gored by a bull at a rodeo in South Texas.
Rene Saenz was taken by air to Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Memorial, a hospital spokeswoman said, after a bull with 10-inch horns came at Saenz inside the pen Thursday night.
His son, Carlos Saenz, said his father was expected to be released from the hospital on Friday.
Event coordinator Luis Guerra said Saenz was opening the gate to the bull pen when a young bull weighing about 900 lbs. rushed forward and punctured his lower left abdomen.
Guerra said Saenz managed to jump over the fence to get help.
The annual rodeo was part of Fourth of July celebrations in Falfurrias, a town south of San Antonio.
