Dallas Baptist University graduates two Brownsville students
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Amanda Christine Carrasco and Keith Neill Uhles II, both of Brownsville, graduated with Bachelor of Arts degrees from Dallas Baptist University.
Carrasco was a member of Sigma Tau Delta, Student Ambassadors, SAB and on the Honor's List.
Uhles was a member and served as sophomore and senior senator for the Student Government Association and was on the Dean's List.
Brownsville girl finalist in beauty pageant
Eleven-year old Yvonne Dodson of Brownsville is a finalist for the National American Miss competition. The pageant will take place later this month in Houston.
Yvonne will be attending Vela Middle School in the fall. She is the daughter of Raymond Dodson and Marlene Beltran.
Southwestern University names Brownsville students to Dean's List
Linda Janette Pena and Erika Rebecca Rendon, both of Brownsville, were named to the 2008 Spring Dean's List at Southwestern University in Georgetown.
To be selected, students must have at least a 3.6 grade point average on a 4.0 scale with at least 12 graded hours and be in good standing with the university.
Former Porter grad completes basic training
Army Pvt. Rogelio Briones of Brownsville graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.
During the nine weeks of training, Briones studied military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
Briones, who is a 1995 graduate of Porter High school, is the brother of Rubina Briones and Elisa Gonzalez, of Brownsville.
