In the cards?
Man predicts year of 'strong foundations'
Tensions will brew during Brownsville’s City Commission elections in May and astounding information will emerge, a local futurist predicts.
“Some dark secrets will be uncovered by late spring,” Jody Blackburn said regarding the upcoming election for mayor and for some commissioners’ posts.
Blackburn says he can’t avoid the images that he senses.
The dark-haired 45-year-old with the penetrating dark eyes — who predicted a Democratic Party presidential victory in 2008 and other events — is now in his 30th year of doing intuitive tarot card readings from his reading room at The Magick Circle, 833 W. Price Road.
Blackburn spoke of his predictions for 2011.
Although he says the Brownsville city elections will be mired in turmoil, suspense and discoveries, he also predicts that the candidates who are elected will leave a “huge positive” impact on the city, elevating Brownsville’s image.
The city also will see a significant upturn in the economy and job market, leading to the expansion of business and industry here, he said.
The economy across the nation will greatly improve around the spring, Blackburn predicts. The real estate and auto industries in particular will experience a strong rebound.
U.S. debt issues with China will be faced, and there will be “positive feedback and outcomes,” he said.
Troops will be coming home, but they face a new deployment to the U.S. borders with Mexico and Canada to provide more security, he said.
Security issues also will result in intensive U.S. dealings and ties with the governments of Mexico and Canada, he said.
Other Blackburn predictions:
— A large chain of department/grocery stores in the Rio Grande Valley will either close some stores in the Valley or will downsize them.
— A well-known political radio commentator will reveal some health problems with a blood related issue, possibly cancer.
— In summer and fall, North Korea’s government will experience sad and unexpected news; chaos will abound.
— The U.S. will begin talks about more drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico, but expenses will be more than estimated.
— In the summer and fall, a terrorist plot against the U.S. will be revealed dealing with a water or power supply system.
— Weather will be cooler than in other years, and the Gulf of Mexico will be fairly quiet. Hurricanes will not harm South Texas.
— Sad news regarding health for the Queen of England.
— Citrus growers will experience some financial concerns due to weather patterns.
— News from the Vatican regarding structural damages will be in the headlines.
— A new Republican politician will emerge in the limelight. The letters D, M, and V will be in this politician’s first or last name.
Blackburn also predicted that in 2011, new ideas and anything built, or implemented will stand for a very long time.
It will be a year of “strong foundations,” Blackburn said, urging people to work hard, take their jobs seriously, respect everyone, and to learn to give a helping hand.
