Tornado touches down in Brownsville; no injuries reported

The Brownsville Police Department has confirmed reports that a tornado touched land in West Brownsville.

The twister hit sometime around 11 a.m. in the 6800 block of Military Highway, police spokesman Eddie Garcia confirmed.

The tornado tipped a trailer sideways, but no injuries were reported.

Nearby the Avant water dispensing station located in front of German Chocolate Inc. coffeeshop was destroyed.

The high winds are also being blamed for a fireworks stand that toppled onto a portable toilet off of FM 511 and Expressway 77/83. No one was in the stand at the time.
