Details of Playstation stabbing surface
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Two teenage brothers fought with a knife Monday because one boy could not listen to his video game because of his older brother's loud music, police said.
At 4:35 p.m., police officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 900 block of East Monroe Street in the city's downtown area, after a 13-year-old boy held a knife to the throat of his 17-year-old brother, Kevin Cuellar, police Sgt. Jimmy Manrrique said.
"The (13-year-old boy) was playing video games on his PlayStation when Cuellar came into the room with his MP3 player and wanted to listen to music," Manrrique said. "(Cuellar) plugged it into the radio and was listening to his music too loud for the (13-year-old boy)."
The boy asked Cuellar for the MP3 player, but Cuellar refused to give it to him, according to a police report.
The 13-year-old raised the volume on the PlayStation, and again asked for the MP3 player. However, Cuellar continued to refuse, and his younger brother became angry, Manrrique said.
"He went into the kitchen and brought with him a fillet knife and put it to (Cuellar's) throat," he said. "(Cuellar) attempted to get the knife off his throat and in the process was cut on his hand."
Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and treated Cuellar outside their home. He suffered a minor laceration to his right hand, which required minor medical attention.
The 13-year-old boy was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and was transported to the Darrell B. Hester Juvenile Justice Center, where he was being detained Tuesday afternoon.
