Breedlove files for re-election to TSC Board
Rosemary Breedlove, the owner of the Inn at Chachalaca Bend in Los Fresnos, has filed for re-election to the Board of Trustees of Texas Southmost College.
Breedlove is currently a trustee and has served on the board for the past 12 years.
"I initially ran for the board because I believe education is the answer," Breedlove said. "I still believe that thoroughly today."
Originally from Renton, Wash., Breedlove moved to the Rio Grande Valley after meeting her husband, Los Fresnos native Cleve Breedlove. Breedlove received her associates degree in nursing from the University of Texas-Pan American in 1974. She later returned to school and earned her master’s degree in nursing in 1993 from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. She earned her post graduate degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Texas A&M at Corpus Christi in 1994.
Breedlove says that her years of service on the TSC Board, as well as with the Cameron County Child Welfare Board, Board of the Planned Parenthood of Cameron & Willacy Counties, and the Board of the Child Advocacy Center, have given her the experience necessary to move UTB-TSC in a positive direction. She says that her priorities as a board member will continue to be the renegotiation of the UTB-TSC partnership and the pursuit of new certificate and doctoral programs for the university.
"I think change is imperative," Breedlove said. "We have to change to get better all the time. We need to look at history to move forward. That’s the nice thing about this board: it’s cohesive and we believe in what we can do for this community."
Breedlove, 62, lives in an unincorporated section of Cameron County near Los Fresnos with her husband. They have two children.
