CBP arrests four over weekend

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested four wanted fugitives over the weekend.

Maria Ester Villarreal was arrested Saturday afternoon at Veterans International Bridge on an outstanding warrant from New York charging her with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, court records show.

John David Farris, 40, from Tampico, Tamaulipas, was arrested Friday morning at B&M International Bridge on an outstanding warrant charging him with violation of probation from Harris County and with failure to appear in a case from Collins County, said a press release from CBP.

Shortly after, Hector Alberto Salina, 20, from San Antonio, was arrested at the same bridge on an outstanding warrant charging him with a bond violation from Bexar County, records show.

On Friday afternoon Juan Carlos Alvarez, 34, from Pasadena, Texas, was arrested at B&M International Bridge on an outstanding warrant for sexual assault, CBP said.

All four arrests took place when the fugitives were referred to a secondary inspection area, where CBP officers confirmed they were the people named in the warrants.

Villarreal was turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service, who will oversee her transfer to New York, while the three others were turned over to Brownsville police. The three men were taken to Carrizalez-Rucker Detention Center pending transfers to their respective counties.
