Policy prohibits Atkinson from having security clearance
Comments 0 | Recommend 0City Commissioner Charlie Atkinson requested and was issued an airport security badge contrary to policy according to city aviation Director Larry Brown
Brown told The Brownsville Herald Friday that he was in the process of retrieving it.
"No other elected official has a badge," Brown also confirmed.
The badge, issued to airport employees, contractors and U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspectors stationed at the Brownsville-South Padre Island International Airport, allows them access to secure areas.
Atkinson, an U.S. Customs inspector, is not stationed at the airport.
