No pay phones at airport

A business traveler was recently at the Brownsville International Airport and noticed there were no available pay phones. The traveler noticed a young woman who was looking around for a pay phone, but couldn't find one. The woman ended up asking the traveler if she could borrow the traveler's cell phone because she had lost hers. The traveler is questioning why there are no pay phones at the airport.

Larry Brown, director of Aviation at the Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport, said two pay phones are located inside the airport. They are located near the baggage check-in and airline ticket counter. There was a period when the airport was switching phone providers and this could be when the person was at the airport and could not locate a pay phone, Brown said.
