Brownsville Museum of Fine Art interim director named

At a late meeting Wednesday the executive board of the Brownsville Museum of Fine Art appointed Linda Marin as interim director of the museum until the end of the year.

The board also formed a search committee, made up of BMFA trustees, to select a permanent replacement for late Executive Director Barry T. Horn.

Museum officials have already received several applications and will be doing a "wide" search to find someone for the position. Applicants must have an art background, experience working with nonprofit groups and management and fundraising skills, said Eddie Knebel, president of the BFMA Board of Trustees.

Horn was chosen unanimously for the position last year after the museum did a nationwide search. He became executive director Jan. 1 and served until his death last month.
