Zoo butterfly exhibit extended until fall
The Gladys Porter Zoo's latest special exhibit, Butterflies, Bugs & Blooms will be extended for several more months.
The exhibit showcases some of the Rio Grande Valley’s most fascinating flora, creepy bugs and radiant butterflies in a free-flight greenhouse experience. It was scheduled to end today, but because of its popularity the zoo has decided to extend the exhibit until the fall.
While the Butterflies, Bugs & Blooms is only a seasonal exhibit, the greenhouse will become part of a new educational complex, the South Texas Discovery Center.
In Butterflies, Bugs & Blooms, visitors get a chance to have a butterfly encounter, as butterflies roam freely throughout the exhibit. Bugs of all sizes and creepiness are on display in aquariums throughout the 72-foot walkway.
Entrance to the exhibit is one dollar, with paid admission or regular membership to the Zoo.
