Punishment: Prison and probation in child porn case
Six days after a Cameron County jury found Adrian De Leon guilty on 20 counts of possession of child pornography, this same jury sentenced him to six years in the Texas Department of Corrections for the crimes.
The jury deliberated for about 20 minutes this morning before handing down its sentence against De Leon 32, of Brownsville. De Leon was sentenced to three years in prison on two of the 20 counts. He received 10 years probation on the remaining 18 counts.
However, on the recommendation of the Cameron County District Attorney’s office De Leon will serve and additional two years in a Cameron County Jail before he is released on the probation.
A visibly shaken De Leon mouthed the words "I love you" to his family as he was escorted out of the courtroom by Cameron County court bailiffs.
His family declined comment.
The jury had been deliberating the punishment phase over a period of three days.
