RBD kicks off tour tonight at Dodge Arena

Fresh off the release of their fourth studio album, the guys and gals of RBD are set to hit the road once again and making Hidalgo their first stop.

Christian, Christopher, Dulce María, Anahí, Maite and Alfonso will launch their Empezar desde Cero Tour tonight at Dodge Arena, giving fans a greater dose of what has made them international pop sensations.

The tour, which wraps in April, will visit Laredo, Dallas and El Paso and other major markets including Miami, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

With this new tour, RBD will make up for the cancellation of the Tour Celestial last year. The band said, through the Web site roptus.com that they wanted to give their audience a much bigger show by performing songs off their new album, which at the time hadn’t been released.

For this album, critics hailed the group’s maturity and song-writing capabilities. With their live show, fans are able to see that growth from the days when they toured in support of their self-titled debut.

The album’s first single, “Inalcanzable,” dominated airwaves upon its release last November only to be followed by the album’s title track, “Empezar desde Cero.”

The album also includes songs written by several members and more solos than before. Both Christopher and Alfonso are partially responsible for "Sueles Volver," co-composed by Christopher and "Si No Estas Aqui", co-written by Alfonso.

The group last visited the Rio Grande Valley for Border Fest in March 2007.

This year, La Nueva Banda Timbiriche will provide opening support.

This newly vamped version of the 80s pop band became a staple to Mexican reality television with dozens of contestants vying for a chance to become part of the project.

Those selected - Brissa, Fernanda, Alberto, Gaby, Eduardo, Taide and Yurem - would not only receive a record deal, but go on tour throughout Mexico and star in an upcoming telenovela.

La Nueva Banda Timbiriche are touring in support of their self-titled debut.

The original Timbiriche, which featured rising stars Thalia, Paulina Rubio and Eduardo Capetillo, spent much of the late 80’s at the top of the charts, similar to the success of RBD.

With members gaining individual exposure, the group later disbanded in 1992.
