UTB-TSC Capsules: Scorpions take unbeaten record to SWAGU

The Scorpions (12-0-1, 6-0) shut down Huston-Tillotson, their toughest opponent in the Red River Athletic Conference, 3-0 Thursday in Austin. SAGU is 5-7, 0-5 in conference.
Against HTU, UTB-TSC registered its seventh shutout of the season, a mark that is tied for fifth-best in the country.
Saturday’s game marks the final road test for the Scorpions during the regular season. UTB-TSC plays host to Northwood on Oct. 31 and ends the regular season at home against Texas A&M-International on Nov. 2.
Women’s soccer
Scorpions aim to keep pace in RRAC
One more obstacle remains for the UTB-TSC women’s soccer team when the Scorpions face Southwestern Assemblies of God at noon Saturday before a potential showdown on Oct. 31.
The Scorpions (8-3-2, 5-0-1) are percentage points behind Northwood (5-0) in the conference standings. Should the Scorpions win Saturday and Northwood also win, the Halloween meeting could determine the regular season champion.
UTB-TSC beat Huston-Tillotson 6-1 on Thursday in Austin. SAGU is 4-8-1, 1-4 in conference.
Saturday’s game is the final regular-season road game for the Scorpions. The Red River Athletic Conference Tournament is Nov. 5 through 7 in Fort Worth.

Scorpions cruise to win over Huston-Tillotson
The No. 9 University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College continued its 22-match winning streak when the Scorpions shut down Huston-TIllotson 3-0 on Friday night in Austin in a Red River Athletic Conference match.
The Scorpions (25-1, 12-0 RRAC) are two games ahead of Wiley College (10-2). Huston-TIllotson dropped to 5-24, 4-9.
UTB-TSC won by scores of 25-14, 25-18, 25-15, marking the 20th time this season the Scorpions have blanked their opponents by a 3-0 score.
No statistics for the match were immediately available.
The Scorpions stay on the road for a 1 p.m. match Saturday at Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio. They have one home match remaining at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, against Bacone College.
