WASHINGTON (AP) — The Pentagon says a 30-year-old Marine Corps special operations officer from Bastrop has died in action in Afghanistan.
The Defense Department says Capt. Joshua S. Meadows died Saturday while supporting combat operations in the western province of Farah, near the Iranian border.
As customary with Marine Corps, no other details were released on the circumstances surrounding the officer's death. A message left for a Marine Corps spokesman on Thursday hasn't been returned.
