Tea Party states case

Editor:
The Tea Party movement was started a few months ago. You may have heard about this group, but do you know what it is about? I’d like to share with you the details of the group; you may be surprised by what this group is about. Perhaps you may even find yourself agreeing with the premise of the group.
We are a non-partisan, pro-America group (How sad that we have to mention this, but unfortunately there is a lot of America bashing and apologizing in this administration) working to preserve our independence and freedom in a constitutional republic as envisioned by our Founding Fathers.
We believe in limited government, fiscal responsibility at all levels of government, and free markets. We share a common concern ever excessive spending by an out-of-control federal government acting in violation of the Constitution.
To that end, our mission is:
To honor God as individuals, and to teach others of the Godly and unique heritage of our nation. (Isn’t it about time to bring God back into our lives and our country?)
To educate citizens about the Constitution and its value as a strict law for all Americans and all generations.
To encourage our elected representatives to support and defend the Constitution, and to represent their constituents.
To engage citizens in bringing America back to its founding principles at the national, state and local levels.
To support states’ rights as required by the Constitution.
To work for sound fiscal policy within the limitations delineated in the Constitution.
To vote our conscience, and to teach others to do the same.
These are the ideas that our Harlingen Tea Party believes in and works toward. If you think you might like to be a part of this organization we invite you and welcome you to come to our next meeting.
When: The first Tuesday of the month.
Where: The Harlingen Public Library
Time: 7 p.m.
I’d like to share warnings that were shared with us at the last Tea Party meeting:
“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote for themselves money (generous gifts) from the public treasury. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship.”
“The average age of the world’s greatest civilization has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence.
“From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependency; from dependency back into bondage.”
