Teen dies in Starr County rollover, drugs seized
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ALTO BONITO — A 17-year-old man died in a rollover accident after leading police on a short chase in Alto Bonito Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
La Grulla police responded to a call at about 12:30 p.m. about a suspect transporting narcotics, La Grulla Police Chief Pedro Bermea said. When police tried to pull over the suspect heading northbound on U.S. 83 near the Alto Bonito exit, the truck began driving erratically.
Police lost sight of the vehicle and continued driving and found the teen’s truck overturned in an open field. Both the man and approximately 568 pounds of marijuana were ejected from the car.
The man was taken to McAllen Medical Center, where he died. Police have not released the his name yet.
