Los Fresnos school bus involved in accident;

Several Los Fresnos CISD children were taken to Brownsville hospitals after the school bus they were riding in flipped on its side following an accident at the intersection of FM 511 and Old Alice Road.

According to Brownsville police spokesman Sgt. Jimmy Manrrique, the driver of grey Dodge Caliber was traveling on Old Alice Road when the car struck the bus which was traveling on FM 511.

According to a Los Fresnos school district spokeswoman there were five children on the bus at the time of the accident.

Birdie Rodriguez says none of them were seriously hurt, but all of them were being taken to either Valley Regional Medical Center or Valley Baptist Hospital in Brownsville for evaluation.

The bus driver was taken to Valley Regional Medical Center for evaluation as well and according to hospital spokeswoman Robin Brechot he was treated and released. The driver of the car was also taken to the hospital for evaluation.
