Washout halts trips on Texas State Railroad
Comments 0 | Recommend 0RUSK, TEXAS (AP) - Rain and flooding in East Texas have halted train rides on the Texas State Railroad.
All scheduled trains have been suspended on a week-to-week basis until repairs to a damaged track are completed.
Severe flooding damaged a portion of the tracks between Maydelle and Rusk last week. An embankment supporting the track near County Road 2108 was washed out, state railroad officials said.
The Texas State Railroad will contact those with paid reservations if their date has been canceled.
The railroad travels between Palestine and Rusk, where recent rains dropped more than 7 inches of rain last week.
