Looking for park dedicated to dogs

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Editor:
Why doesn’t the city of Brownsville have a dog park where people can take their dogs to play and romp around and enjoy themselves without having to be concerned with the dogs getting in the way of citizens without dogs?
I have been in other cities where they have dog parks and it is just great. There is a fantastic place in Brownsville on Alton Gloor just south of Rome Street. It’s a wide-open field that can be fenced off and the dogs can be given a wonderful place to play.
I just returned from Houston and they have one there, and Las Vegas, Nev., has a park.
The park in Houston also has a pond where the dogs can play in the water. The park in Las Vegas is sectioned off into three sections. One for small dogs, the second for medium dogs and the third for the larger dogs.
Whom do I need to contact to see why this can’t be done here in Brownsville?
I have two dogs that would love to be able to have a place like this to play in.

Gasoline prices ridiculously high

Editor:
I recently filled up with gasoline at $2.49 a gallon, which was more than $50 for the tankful. It seems that overnight the prices went from $2.29 a gallon to $2.39, to $2.49, to $2.59 per gallon.
I saw that oil had gone up a few dollars on the commodity market, but this is nuts! Overnight they raise prices by 30 cents a gallon. Shame on them!
Anybody want to take my bet that when oil comes down, the gasoline prices stay up?

What’s wrong with leaving kids alone?

Editor:
I was just wondering why it is so wrong for parents to leave their children at home with a teenager.
When you go to the mall you find small children alone roaming the mall. I also see this when I go to Peter Piper Pizza.
Just the other day I took a walk to Plaza Park that is downtown close to the police station, and noticed children walking and playing there without adult supervision.
What is the difference in leaving your child at home with a teenager in the safety and comfort of your home and the children wondering the streets in the evening without adult supervision?
