Man gets 15 years for sexually assaulting child
Comments 0 | Recommend 0EDINBURG -- A 28-year-old man was sentenced to 15 years in prison Wednesday after admitting in court to sexually assaulting a 5-year-old relative.
Faustino Lozano Jr. pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child stemming from allegations that he raped the girl multiple times during visits to her aunt’s Donna home.
The girl’s mother learned of the abuse when her child was diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease, according to court documents filed in his case.
Donna police arrested Lozano in March. He has remained at the Hidalgo County Jail ever since on a $1 million bond.
It is The Brownsville Herald's policy not to identify the victims of sexual abuse. The 5-year-old’s name and relationship to Lozano have been withheld to protect her identity.
