Horse Racing Capsules: 'Wife' horses headed for Monmouth rematch
OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) — Two horses whose stretch duel became an international Internet sensation are headed for a rematch.
Mywifenosevrything and Thewifedoesntknow both are entered in Sunday's eighth race at Monmouth Park.
Their first meeting on Aug. 22 produced a stretch call for the ages by track announcer Larry Collmus: "Mywifenosevrything. Thewifedoesntknow. They're one-two. Of course they are!"
Mywifenosevrything prevailed by two lengths, and the "wife" exacta paid $29.40.
Collmus' call went viral on YouTube and was prominently featured on ESPN's "Sports Center" and every major U.S. network newscast.
Post time for Sunday's race is 4:02 p.m. EDT. Television Games Network will air the race live.
Ticket sales brisk for Breeders' Cup
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Advance ticket sales for the 2010 Breeders' Cup World Championships at Churchill Downs have nearly doubled the totals from a year ago.
Officials with the Breeders' Cup announced in a news release that $7.2 million worth of reserved seating has been sold for the two-day event, which is scheduled for Nov. 5-6 at the Louisville racetrack.
In the same period in 2009, just $3.7 million had been spent on advance tickets. The Breeders' Cup was held last year at Santa Anita Park outside Los Angeles.
Breeders' Cup officials say one factor in the robust sales is the possibility that undefeated Zenyatta may show up to defend her 2009 victory in the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic.
