Lopez to serve another term
Cameron County 197th state District Judge Migdalia Lopez will serve another term.
Unofficial election returns Tuesday night indicated that Lopez garnered 11,116 votes to challenger Juan Angel Guerra’s 4,318.
Lopez will represent the Democratic Party in the November general election.
In 1999, Lopez was elected judge of the 197th state District Court, which represents both Cameron County and Willacy County.
Guerra, the former Willacy County district attorney, previously said his candidacy for the judgeship was a way for him to "expose the corruption down here."
