Company to investigate ruptured Starr County gas line
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The company that owns the gas line that ruptured near Rio Grande City is investigating what caused the break, said Starr County Sheriff Rene Fuentes.
A 16-inch pipe gas line located about 7 miles north of Farm-to Market Road 3167 broke Saturday afternoon. But crews from Enterprise Texas Pipeline, which owns the line, were able to cut the main line and repair the line before the gas could trigger a fire. No injuries or damages were reported, Fuentes said.
Utility crews took four hours to repair the ruptured gas line Saturday. Firefighters from the La Rosita and Roma fire departments were on hand in case a fire ignited, but no blaze occurred, the sheriff said.
“Everything was under control,” Fuentes said.
