Spanking isn't a just sentence

Editor:

I cannot understand how a judge at any level in the Texas and Cameron County has been allowed to allow the paddling of minors in his courtroom without objections to what has obviously been an abuse of power by the bench. Otherwise, this judge would have had better judgment on the issue, when students are dragged into court and paddled in public.

Is this still 2008, or is some segment of society in the judicial arena living in the past, as when school principals were allowed to paddle students?

I was paddled at Russell Elementary School for speaking Spanish, where God help him or her who stuck in her hand to protect the buttocks because it was painful to get back of the knuckles whacked. How could any judge in Texas or Cameron County think the option of spanking a person would be acceptable or legal?

I also understand some immunity might prevent sanctions against a public servant who has stepped over the line, but this judge allowed the inexcusable acts to take place and had no better judgment than that, which in itself is enough to determine that Justice of the Peace Gus Garza is unfit to sit in the office that requires the highest integrity and honorable decision making, which in this case he failed to do, and there should be no regrets for the truth spoken when Justice Garza failed to use better judgment and caused the humiliation and pain of minor children in his courtroom, knowingly and intentionally.

I hope the citizens of Cameron County will use better judgment the next time it comes to election time and we either help elect or remove judges who step over the line with their abusive, ridiculous fines in order to satisfy their gluttonous punishments and humiliating a citizen stripped off all his rights in open court.

Somebody tell Justice Garza that the Dark Ages of spanking children at home or in public were gone a long time ago, and please people, bring some sanity back to our courts next time you vote.
