Cummings shooting 911 call: 'Put the gun down'

The 911 call released by Brownsville police today reveals a tense scene where police officers yell "Put the gun down" multiple times.

An assistant principal at Cummings Middle School called Brownsville police from the front office, reporting that a student - later revealed to be 15-year-old Jaime Gonzalez - had a gun in his crotch area.

Officers arrive, and the woman tells the dispatcher Gonzalez is drawing the gun.

Police yell at Gonzalez to drop the gun.

"Put it on the floor," an officer yells in the background of the 911 call.

Someone yells that the student says he is willing to die.

An adminstrator can be heard yelling "lock the door, lock the damn door."

Near the end of the six minute call, the officers yell that Gonzalez is running through the hall.

The woman tells the dispatcher shooting is occurring.

"Oh gosh, there is a shooting going on. He's running through the hall."

Gonzalez, an eighth grader, was fatally shot by officers at Cummings Middle School early Wednesday morning.
