Doctor: Bipolar teen may have made story about Guerrero up
Comments 0 | Recommend 0EDINBURG - Bipolar patients like the girl Omar Guerrero is accused of sexually assaulting can often be delusional, according to a doctor who testified this afternoon.
Dr. Michael Kilgore took the stand Thursday as the first witness in Guerrero's defense.
Guerrero's attorney, Ric Salinas, asked the doctor whether the 16-year-old girl who says she had a sexual relationship with Guerrero in late 2006 may have invented the rela-tionship as part of her condition.
Prosecutor Judith Cantu tried to discredit the doctor, saying he had been sued many times for malpractice. The doctor could not remember the exact number of times he had been sued.
The trial is in its ninth day. It's unclear how much longer the trial will go on.
