BRUNA P. GALVAN

Bruna P. Galvan, 94, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother entered into the glory of her eternal life on Thursday, May 6, 2009, at Spanish Meadows Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

A native of Beleno, Texas, Mrs. Galvan had been a lifetime resident of Brownsville. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Cathedral. She loved gardening and tending to her plants and had a "green thumb." She especially loved spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alejandro Galvan; two daughters, Margarita Alvarado and Victoria Alvarado; one son, Alejandro Galvan Jr.; two sisters, Concepcion Peña and Lydia Galvan and one brother, Lorenzo Padron.

Left behind to eternally treasure her memory are her children: Maria Hortencia (Santos) Sauceda, Maria Luisa (Samuel+) Munivez, Connie (Alfonso) Lee, Carmen (Julian) Ramirez, Irene (Rafael) Solis, Galdino (Ninfa) Galvan, and Cruz (Olivia) Galvan; two sons-in-law, Jose Alvarado and Gilberto Alvarado, a daughter-in-law, Librada Galvan; 38 grandchildren, 70 (plus two on the way) great-grandchildren, and 24 (with one on the way) great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at noon today, Friday, May 8, 2009, and continues until 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. in the evening on Friday at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at the corner of East 6th and Elizabeth streets. Committal services will follow to Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Bruna's grandsons are honored to be serving as her pallbearers.

LUIS M. "LUIGI MARTINELLY" ALTAMIRANO

Luis M. "Luigi Martinelly" Altamirano, entered into eternal rest on May 6, 2009. He was a resident of Brownsville for many years and was known as "the Best Bar Tender of Brownsville." He worked at the Fort Brown Resaca Club for 35 years and other places in the Valley. He was born in Mexico City on Sept. 17, 1947.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herminio Altamirano and Alicia Moreira.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Altamirano; children, Luis M. Altamirano Jr., Patricia Altamirano, Alejandro Altamirano and Veronica Altamirano; grandchildren, Fresshiya Altamirano, Rodolfo Altamirano, Carlos Garcia, Rudbekia Garcia, Leslie Altamirano, Ruben Castro, Priscilla Castro, Israel Garcia, Bryan Garcia, Ileana Quintanilla, and Paola Quintanilla; great-grandchildren, Gynna Cuevas and Dyra Guevara.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. today, Friday May 8, 2009, in the chapel of Trevino Funeral Home .

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Trevino Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

MARIA GUADALUPE "LUPITA" HULL

Maria Guadalupe "Lupita" Hull, 70, entered Heaven on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville.

Lupita was a great wife, loving mother, grandmother and friend. She loved to spend time with all her family whom she loved with all her heart. She attended El Calvario Luthern Church where she prayed with her extended family at church. She was a great woman of faith and will be dearly missed by all who knew and spent time with her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Raul Hoyt and Maria de Los Angeles Robles Hoyt.

Lupita is survived by her loving husband, Luis Hull Sr.; children Gina H. Gonzalez, Luis Hull Jr., Griselda (Chris) Hull; and her very own special angel, Alejandra Gonzalez; brother, Lupe Robles (Janie); sister, Lydia Cortez; grandchild, Alfonso G. Gonzalez Jr. and her two little angels, J.J. and Alex Gonzalez.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. today, Friday, May 8, 2009, at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista.

Church service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2009, at El Calvario Lutheran Church, 1157 E. Monroe St., Brownsville,Texas. Committal service will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be Luis Hull Jr., Tino Galvan, Luis Robles, Lupe Robles, Alfredo Montalvo, Jesse Montalvo Enrique Robles and Arturo Cortez.

ARTURO BODDEN

Arturo Bodden, 73, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest on May 5, 2009 at Valley Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Bodden was a lifetime shrimper and was the owner of Bodden Trawlers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Claire Bodden and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Elena Bodden; two daughters, Veronica Cavazos and Elizabeth Bodden Patterson; a son, Arturo Agustin Bodden; a granddaughter, Ana Maria Cavazos; three brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held today, Friday, May 8, at 6 p.m., with a Celebration of Life to begin at 7 p.m., in the chapel of Darling-Mouser. All services will conclude on Friday evening.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
