BLASA VALDEZ ZALDIVAR, 77, of Port Isabel, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2009, at Solara Hospital in Brownsville. Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Thomae-Garza Funeral Directors.
GUMERCINDO P. GUERRERO, 88, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Valley Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Tampico, Mexico and had been a Brownsville resident for many years. There will be no local services. Funeral services will be held at Funerarias Escobedo in Matamoros. Local arrangements were under the direction of Garza Memorial Funeral Home.
MANUEL P. BARRERA JR., 80, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009. He was a native and lifelong Brownsville resident. Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Garza Memorial Funeral Home.
URSULA CAMACHO, 72, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Valley Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
JUANITA GOMEZ
Juanita Gomez, 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2009, at her home.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Juan F Gomez Jr.; a grandson, John Eric Garcia; several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Yolanda Garcia (Mike); grandchildren, Michael Anthony Garcia, Thomas Roland Garcia and Danica Garcia; a brother, Jose Guadalupe Torres; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday May 6, 2009, at Trevino Funeral Home. Service will be officiated by Pastor Gene Loya.

HILARIO VASQUEZ
Hilario Vasquez, 85, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 4, 2009, at Solara Hospital-Brownsville.
Mr. Vasquez was employed at Texas Southmost College (UTB) for over 20 years. He enjoyed cooking and making his famous salsas, gardening and family gatherings. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by a step-son, Javier Rendon.
Mr. Vasquez is survived by his wife, Juanita Vasquez; children, Sara V. Rocha, Isidora Vasquez, and Jose Vasquez; step-children, Maria A. Alvarez, Jose A. Rendon, Salvador Rendon, Francisco Rendon, Alma R. Rendon, and David Rendon; three sisters; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
Mass will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Committal will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

JOAQUINA URESTI DE TORRES
Joaquina Uresti De Torres, 72, entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Monday, May 4, 2009, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. Mrs. Uresti was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Tomas Uresti and Cecilia Moncada; a brother, Brijido Uresti; and a sister, Tomasa Roque.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving family; her husband, Martin Torres; sons, Felipe Miranda and Jose Luis Torres (Hermelinda); a daughter, Leticia Perez (Ramon); and two sisters, Paula Moncada and Rafaela Moncada; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Funerarias Escobedo in Matamoros Tamps., Mexico.

NOE ARAIZA SR.
Noe Araiza Sr., 53, of La Porte passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009.
He was born Oct. 17, 1955 in Brownsville, Texas to Conception and Lorenzo Araiza.
He is survived by his wife, Lucila Araiza; a son, Noe Araiza Jr.; a daughter, Sheila Mae Araiza; siblings, Esther Araiza, Luis Araiza, Maria De La Luz Araiza, Gilbeerto Araiza, Elvira Araiza, Herminia Hernandez, and Alma Rosa Araiza; and grandchildren, Nicholas Gonzalez and Bianca Araiza.
A holy rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Paul U. Lee La Porte Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in La Porte.
