Everybody wants change

Editor:

Two years ago consumer confidence was at a two-year high. Gas was still less than $2.50 a gallon and unemployment was 4.5 percent. The stock market hit a record high of 14,000-plus. The nation voted for change and got a Democratic-controlled Congress that has nixed all progress and set the country into a tailspin with an approval rating of less than 10 percent.

Today's performance of Congress is dismal and many of the same Democratic people who said 10 years ago that drilling was no solution to the energy crises because it would take these past 10 years to develop are singing the same song.

We need change of the naysayers in Congress. Barack Obama promises a dream for redistributing industrial wealth to buy him votes, but he neglects to say that the sources of all your needs would cost more.

Historically a government-controlled program such as this has a large cost and we have no control as to where all the extra tax money would go.

We have had a look at the Democrats' change. We have had a look at John McCain's notorious departure from custom by fighting hidden giveaways of our money without asking for any himself. Some say he voted 90 percent of the time with Bush. So did most Democrats in Congress; it's the 10 percent that is at stake here.

We have been exposed to eight years of hate attacks on President Bush, but he has kept us safe after major financial and terrorist attacks occurred following the Clinton administration. Bush has guided and supported improved infrastructure to assist in national emergencies as weaknesses were exposed.

The nation is at a crossroads where we can experiment with the failed European socialistic modifications of government or we can vote to hold to the Constitution that has guided us to the longest-lived successful free society in the history of man.

There is no perfect fit for any job, but the McCain-Palin mix will give us proven courage, maturity and tested statesmanship at several levels of government with the vigor of youth, ideals, morality and realism.

Palin is an Alaskan hero and has governed our largest state and the only one that has individually had disputes with Russia concerning territorial rights to the areas they share.

We need to change Congress and we need McCain and Sarah.
