Man accused of sexually assaulting girl he met at church
A 34-year-old man was arrested Friday for allegedly having intercourse with a 13-year-old girl who is said to be dating one of the man’s family members, Brownsville police records showed.
Guillermo Estrada Sandoval was arrested on several felony warrants and stands charged of three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of continuous sexual abuse of a child, a police press release said.
According to police records, the suspect and victim sent text messages to each other and one told the girl "why didn’t she go out with a man instead of a boy." The records state that in June, the suspect took the victim to South Padre Island then later returned with her to Brownsville where they had intercourse several times in one day at a motel. The records state there was other sexual contact between the victim and the suspect that day.
The suspect, the records said, took the victim to the same motel two more times, once in October and once in December.
Police said the suspect "confessed" to the charges and first met the victim when she was 12 years old. They said the suspect "lured her several times by communicating with her via text."
The suspect’s bond was set at $600,000 total.
