LED billboard a big distraction

Picture this: You're cruising down Expressway 83 at 65 mph and notice a dazzling display of lights, brilliant colors, scrolling text and changing shapes ahead in the night sky! Incredible!

You take your eyes off the road and read the mesmerizing advertisement being flashed across the huge LED billboard to the east side of the expressway between Price Road and Boca Chica Boulevard.

SCREECH!

I have seen this happen. This has almost happened to me!

Drivers in Brownsville have enough distracting them from the road without putting a giant television alongside the highway!

In my opinion, it is irresponsible advertising and those businesses should realize they're putting the delivery of their message above the safety of their would-be consumers!

I am aware that drivers can be distracted from the road by other things such as kids crying in the back seat or the cell phone ringing, but this is different. Drivers can't avoid this distraction! It's right there blaring in their face every day!

I can turn off my cell phone; not a giant LED billboard!

I feel this is a serious safety concern for Brownsville, and think this billboard should be removed immediately.

Let's not wait for accidents to happen because of this - let's be vigilant about preventing them!
