Eugenio “Jeno” Arguelles
Eugenio “Jeno” Arguelles, 67 passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at his residence in Los Fresnos surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer.
Eugenio was born Jan. 1, 1940, in H. Matamoros, Tamps., to Eufracia Cabrera.
He was raised by Jose Maria and Natalia M. Arguelles, and married Maria Cecilia Arguelles on Jan. 27, 1963, in H. Matamoros, Tamps. He received his education in Mexico and was a Free Mason. Mr. Arguelles belonged to the Rotary Club in Matamoros where he was president of the club; he also published an article in a magazine. He was self-employed most of his life and worked for Buena Vista Funeral Home. His place of residence was Matamoros, Brownsville and Los Fresnos his hobbies included singing, tennis, softball, swimming, bowling, reading and writing poetry verses and most of all he enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends.
Mr. Arguelles is preceded in death by his children, Jose Eugenio Arguelles, Edgar Arguelles and Ana Karina Arguelles; grandchild, Amanda Carina Vega; nephews, Carlitos Quesada, Victor Quesada, Eduardo Gomez and Rolando Gomez.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years of marriage, Maria Cecilia Arguelles; children, Aide M. Jaimes, Jose Eugenio (Patricia) Arguelles, Enrique (Sochie) Arguelles, Jose Eduardo (Lupita) Arguelles, Cecilia M. (Armando) Vega, Analia Arguelles, Erik Arguelles and Edgar Arguelles; grandchildren, Jon Erick Jaimes, Forrest A., Ariel R., Joshua T., Nicolette B., Cristian Eduardo, Daniel Alejandro, Matthew Isaiah Arguelles, Armando Mateo Vega, Sheena Angelica Arguelles and Cecilia Micaela Vega; mother, Eufracia Cabrera; siblings, Juana Maria Garza and Guadalupe Garza and many family and friends.
Visitation was held from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church today, Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007. Committal service will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jose Eugenio, Enrique, Jose Eduardo Arguelles, Jon Erick Jaimes, Forrest A., Joshua T., Erik Arguelles and Armando M. Vega.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cristian Eduardo, Daniel Alejandro, Matthew Isaiah Arguelles and Armando Mateo Vega.
