Obituaries for April 30
Comments 0 | Recommend 0JUANA GABINA REYNA, 79, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville. Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Guerra Funeral Home of Brownsville.
FELIPA RIVERA, 93, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2009. She was a native of Monterrey, N.L. Mexico and a lifelong Brownsville resident. Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Garza Memorial Funeral Home.
MAE SMITH ROSS
Mae Ross, 83, of Lawrenceville, Ga., died on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, after a long illness.
She was born in Itta Bena, Miss., on Feb. 17, 1926, and had two brothers and five sisters. She loved the beach and she and her husband, Maury, spent many winters in South Padre Island, Texas. She had numerous friends in northern Mexico and the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas and countless others whose lives she touched. She never lost her sense of humor, graciousness and determination of spirit.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Maury G. Ross; daughter, Gayle Ross of Los Angeles, Calif.; son, Glenn Jr. and daughter-in-law, Tina, of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Tyler and Ethan Ross; sisters, Doris Rogers of Greenwood, Miss. and Ruby Smith Turner of McComb, Miss; nieces, Judy (Mac) Ryland and Carolyn (Gordon) French of Atlanta; nephew, Fred (Georgeann) Ross of Oxford, Miss.; and several other nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2009, at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel with Rev. Amy Morgan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift can be made in Mae's name to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
The family will receive friends after the service. Her remains will scattered in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of South Padre Island, Texas.

MRS. GLORIA J. COOPER
Mrs. Gloria J. Cooper, 67, of Brownsville, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 27, 2009, at Valley Regional Medical Center.
Left to eternally treasure her memory are her beloved husband of 46 years, Johnny Cooper of Brownsville; their children, Carolyn (Jose Luis Ramirez) Cooper of Brownsville, Johnny (Elena) Cooper Jr. of Brownsville, Audrey (David) Fuller of Salado, Texas and Elsa (Edgar Mujica) Cooper of Brownsville; 11 grandchildren, Gil Gonzalez, Christina Indridson, Alan Cooper, Jenna Cooper, Mea Fuller, Samuel Fuller, Brettney Fuller, Lauren Cruz, Joseph Cruz, Shannon Cruz and Yaquelin Mujica; a brother, Benito (Eloisa) Juarez of Brownsville; two sisters, Minerva (+Jose) Almeida and Juanita (Reynaldo) Aguinaga, both of Brownsville.
Visitation was held from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in the West Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
