Man, grandson die in South Texas fishing accident
Comments 0 | Recommend 0DALLAS (AP) - A 4-year-old boy and his grandfather drowned during a South Texas fishing trip when the child fell into the water and the man jumped in to try to save him.
Both victims were related to state Rep. Roberto Alonzo of Dallas, who announced the deaths and released the names of the pair.
Funeral arrangements were pending Monday for 58-year-old Ramon Alonzo and his grandson, Elisha T. Alonzo, both from Crystal City. Ramon Alonzo was the lawmaker's older brother.
Rep. Alonzo said the accident happened Saturday afternoon during a fishing trip to the Crystal City area.
Police early Monday referred inquiries to the Dimmit County sheriff's department, which did not immediately return a call to The Associated Press.
Autopsies have been ordered.
